Kalkkögel roundtrip - 2011-09-18

Sunday, bad weather. Forecasted snowfall above 1600m and storm-like winds. Best time to do a neat little trailrun - around the Kalkkögel, our "local Dolomites". Weather was nearly as bad as forecasted, but without the snow. Even at 2500m just slight rain and only little winds. Running at moderate speed I passed Kemater Alm (1670m), Adolf-Pichler-Hütte (1970m) and reached Seejöchl (2510m) after nearly 2 hours. Then on through Schlicker Schartl (2470m) and from there down to Zirmachalm (1930m) and Schlicker Alm (1640m). From there in little ups and downs on the 'Berglersteig' towards Pfarrachalm, then apprx. 500m up again to Halsl (1990m). Rain became heavy now, and also winds were quite strong, so I did not lose much time and hurried down to Axamer Lizum Parkplatz. From there the 'Rodelbahn' down to Axams and back home.
5h of running, more than 30km and beyond 2000m of difference in altitude makes me chillout a little now...

RedBull Dolomitenmann - 2011-09-08

This year I was prepared much better for this year's Dolomitenmann. Weather was perfect and so was the organisation of the whole event. Racing was real fun, as I knew the track already and also because of the easy handling of the NOVA Ibex. Result was quite satisfying for me, 17th place (amateurs) and 35th overall - OFFICIAL RESULTS

Bordairline Interlaken - 2011-09-03

After two Crossalps competitions in 2009 and 2010 I decided to take part in a Bordairline event this year. Especially because they are held in different locations every time, this was Interlaken, switzerland. As I had no knowledge of the mountain regions there, I reduced my expectations at the beginning and tried to have as much fun as possible.
Thermals were virtually non-existent, so I climbed two mountains (2500hm), glided down and walked some 50km. I was back way too early, with my turnpoint being only 24km away, resulting in 17th place (out of 19). However, Miro (proved to be a good supporter) and I did have some fun and 3 nice days in Switzerland.

climb&fly Königsjodler/Matrashaus - 2011-08-29

Pretty stunning day today. Perfect weather, a challenging "Königsjodler"-via ferrata and an awesome flight from Hochkönig summit. 6 1/2 hours of hiking and climbing upwards, approx. 1700m of difference in altitude and a rewarding flight, taking off nearby the summit cross.

trail Fotschertal - 2011-08-26

Föhn winds up to 60km/h made flying pretty much impossible today. But there's no weather too bad for running. Quite extended course today, up to Grieskogel (2160m), down to Fotschertal (1450m), up again to Almind- and Seiges Alm (1900m) resulted in 30km and approximately 1700m of difference in altitude.
